Sunrises and work

Don't get me wrong. I love sunrises. They're beautiful, magical and harken a fresh new day for all of us.

But there's just something bordering on painful when one's been up all night working on a project AND the sun's peeking through. As I look over my shoulder now, I can just see the faint glimmers of the morning sun about to burst through the venetian blinds. I'm about half way done with this job and the mojo faded a few hours ago; I'm just working on reflex right about now. I do need a few hours of shut-eye though. Long day ahead... taxes, more work, and then teaching tonight.

And in the immortal words of a great writer that just passed away today, Kurt Vonnegut... "So it goes".

I've figured out what's worse than pulling an near all-night project!

And that's another project right after that first near all-night project! Sleep is going to be a rare commodity these next few days. I'll see if I still have enough brain cells the next few days to post what it is I'm working on as well.

They're interesting projects- the only thing tough about them is they're right on top of one another.

Okay, a few more nights/ early mornings of this mayhem and I can pass another job through these cluttered walls.

Then you hear the birds chirping, and that's when you have to really start scrambling :)

Birds chirping are still gonna be way better than irate art directors squawking wondering where their storyboard frames are.

Today I go back to teaching class. The majority of my students went to New York City for the weekend. I've heard great and wonderful stories from a few of them and it sounds as though they had fun. I'm sure I'll get swamped with stories and the like (hey, that's part of the fun of teaching!) about their escapades.

It just got me thinking- who slept more this previous weekend? Them or me??

I sometimes stay up all night long on the weekends, and only the weekends, but I know it's time to go to bed when I hear either the birds chirping or I see the first signs of daylight. Pulling all-nighters like these ruin the rest of the day, because I often spend eight hours of daylight sleeping, and then the rest of the evening my circadian rhythm is all messed up.

By the way, Kurt Vonnegut was one of my favorite authors. I was sad to see him leave the physical plane, but he will continue to live on as the people read his books.
